Ageing Population

Ever since SSMR was established in 1995, the research team has carried out a large number of studies related to older people.

One of our major projects explored the needs of lone older men, which was commissioned by Age Concern Surrey and funded by the Big Lottery Fund.  We interviewed men living in Surrey, and those in the statutory and voluntary sectors providing support.  The findings drew attention to a number of ways in which men living alone might need support, especially if they become isolated.
