Families and
Children
SSMR has carried out several
studies concerning children and young people.
The most recent research has been on services
providing support for children diagnosed with
ADHD, including looking at referral pathways,
how children are assessed, and how services are
delivered. The study was commissioned by
Child and Adolescent Mental
Health Services (CAMHS),
Surrey County Council
and was carried out with the
Department of Sociology.
Another recent study involving
young people was commissioned by
Surrey Parenting Education &
Support, Surrey Primary Care Trust.
SSMR was asked to evaluate a
programme of activity weekends aimed at fathers
and their sons and/or daughters. The purpose of
the research was to assess the value to both
parent and child in the development of their
relationship, as well as examining their views
on the activities provided.
Other studies include:
-
Evaluation of support for
fostering families
-
Various studies on the needs
of university students
-
A comparison between British
and Spanish children and their use of new
technology
-
The role of the new tier 2
primary child and adolescent mental health
(CAMHS) liaison workers
