Today’s Scrap Copper Prices
Looking for today’s scrap copper prices in Essex?
Stewarts Scrap Metal Recycling buys a wide range of scrap copper from members of the public, tradespeople, businesses and commercial customers throughout North Essex and the surrounding area.
We regularly buy copper from electricians, plumbers, heating engineers, builders, property trades and businesses, as well as members of the public with copper to sell.
Copper is one of the most valuable commonly recycled metals, but not all scrap copper is worth the same amount.
The price depends on the grade, purity and condition of your copper, as well as the current scrap metal market.
Our buying prices move with the market, so if you’re ready to sell, ask us what we’re paying today.

How Recycling Your Scrap Copper Works
Important Information
New customers must bring a valid driving licence and a bank card for payment.
We offer free large load collections for commercial or volume loads.
We do not offer small domestic collections, however we are happy to recommend local, trusted licensed scrap collectors if needed.
How Much Is Scrap Copper Worth Per KG?
Scrap copper is normally valued by weight, with buying prices quoted per kilogram (kg).
However, there isn’t one universal copper price per kg.
The value depends heavily on the grade.
For example:
- Dry bright copper wire can have one value.
- New copper tube can have another.
- Heavy copper, copper cylinders and braziery may be graded and valued differently again.
That’s why understanding what grade of copper you have is important when comparing scrap prices.
If you don’t know what you’ve got, you don’t need to become a scrap-metal expert before visiting us.
Send Stewarts a photograph or bring it into the yard.
We’ll help you understand what you’ve got, how it’s being graded and what we’re paying for it.
We Don’t Just Buy Your Copper – We’ll Help You Understand It
This is an important part of how we operate at Stewarts Scrap Metal Recycling. We don’t believe good customer service stops at weighing your material and paying you.
We want our customers to understand their scrap and how they may be able to get better value from it.
That could mean helping you understand:
For a member of the public, that might simply mean explaining what type of copper they’ve brought in.
For an electrician, plumber, heating engineer or other tradesperson producing scrap regularly, that knowledge can potentially help them get more value from their scrap over the long term.
We’re not interested in keeping customers in the dark about what they’re selling.
The more you understand about your scrap, the better.
How Can I Get Better Value From My Scrap Copper?
One of the easiest ways to potentially get better value from your scrap is simply to understand what you’ve got.
Higher-value material can sometimes end up mixed with lower grades because the person selling it doesn’t realise there’s a difference.
Where practical, keeping different copper grades and other metals separated can make identification and grading easier.
But we also don’t want customers spending hours preparing material if the extra work isn’t worthwhile.
That’s why we’d rather you ask us.
Bring your material in or WhatsApp us photographs.
If there’s something you could do differently with future loads that could help you get better value from your scrap, we’ll tell you.
For regular tradespeople and commercial customers, that knowledge can potentially make a meaningful difference over time.
