Looking For Today’s Scrap Cable Prices in Essex?
Stewarts Scrap Metal Recycling buys a wide range of scrap electrical cable from members of the public, electricians, tradespeople, businesses and commercial customers throughout North Essex and the surrounding area.
Cable isn’t simply one scrap grade.
Different cables contain different amounts of copper and different amounts of insulation, steel armour, lead and other materials.
That means two cables that look similar from the outside can potentially have very different scrap values.
We buy and grade a wide range of cable, including:
- Household Cable
- Twin & Earth
- Single Core / Singles
- SWA / Armoured Cable
- Low Grade Armoured Cable
- Aerial Cable, Data Cable, VIR Cable
- Greasy Armoured Lead Cable
- Feeder Cable
- Appliance Cable / Flex
- Larger High-Recovery Cables
- Mixed Electrical Cable
- And other suitable cable grades
Not sure what cable you’ve got? That’s fine.
Send us photographs on WhatsApp or bring it to the yard.
We’ll help identify it and tell you what we’re paying today.

Our 5-Star Reviews Speak for Themselves
We’re proud of the reputation Stewarts Scrap Metal Recycling has built with its customers.
Rather than simply filling the page with claims about being “the best”, I’d like our genuine customer reviews to help demonstrate what we’re about.
What Types of Cable Do We Buy?
How Recycling Your Scrap Cable Works
Important Information
New customers must bring a valid driving licence and a bank card for payment.
We offer free large load collections for commercial or volume loads.
We do not offer small domestic collections, however we are happy to recommend local, trusted licensed scrap collectors if needed.
We’ll Teach You How to Get More From Your Cable
This is another important part of how we operate at Stewarts Scrap Metal Recycling.
We don’t just want to buy your scrap – we want you to understand it.
If we see that you’re mixing a higher-value cable with a lower-value grade, we’ll explain the difference.
If separating certain material could potentially improve the value of your future loads, we’ll tell you.
And equally, if spending hours separating something isn’t likely to be worthwhile, we’d rather give you sensible advice.
This is particularly valuable for regular customers.
An electrician or electrical contractor generating cable every week can potentially benefit repeatedly from understanding:
- Which cable grades are worth separating
- Why singles differ from household cable
- Why SWA and low-grade armoured cable differ
- How copper recovery affects cable value
- When larger cable should be percentage tested
- What can reduce the grade/value of a cable load
The knowledge doesn’t disappear after one transaction. You can use it on every future load.
